Yours of the 16th inst.
rec'd with great pleasure. Rejoice in
your [preferment?] and prosperity. Hope
your fullest expectations may be realized.
I am thankful that I followed
the "star of [Empire]?" and moved to the west.
Have resided here in Mitchell nearly
three years. Have assumed larger responsibilities
than in the East and feel I am
of more use in the world because of the
burdens laid upon me. I am not
amassing wealth, but live comfortably and
am as Paul expressed it "Content with food
and [?]" By the grace of God I
