Prof. C. E. Bessey

My Dear Sir

I am expecting
to leave shortly on a botanical trip to the west
in the interest of the [Course Board Dept. of Forestry?]
in company with the [?] & Prof Sargent.
We go 1st to Salt Lake, thence to San Francisco
& up the Coast to Vancouver Island, making
thence South along the Sierra Nevada & Coast
ranges, [?] to winter in South California
and [return?] in 1881 via Arizona & New Mexico,
a [pretty?] extensive scheme if we can only carry
it out!

I have been thinking there may not be
another so good opportunity as now to take you
on the route, by [?] a day we do no [?].
I therefore write to enquire if you will be at
[?] [?] through next week. I would
[then?] like to know if I can meet Prof [Budd?]
at the same time? Please [?] me on these
[?] as soon as convenient, and I will then
notify you ([when decided?]) when you may expect me.
I have just come from a most [?] [&?]
pleasant visit with [?] [?] [?].
Hoping that the arrangement prepared may be [?]
and that I [?] [?] you. I am yours truly
C. C. Parry
