it seems to me that it is the best I have ever seen for the general reader—& it must be [equally?] [allotted?] to the wants of students in schools & colleges. Most authors make "dry bones" of this [noble study?] but you have the rare facility of putting life, motion, spirit into whatever you write. I have no doubt the volume will win its way to very wide [appreciation?] & fully meet your hopes
I am [?] to you for your kind invitation. I intend to avail myself of the opportunity to visit the College before you close this fall. I cannot now indicate what time I can be there but probably about the last days of this term. When I decide I will let you know. Prof. Budd also [?] [me?] an invitation.
A couple of our [mortuill?] & public [?] zoning men—a banker & a farmer are anxious to visit the College when I do, & I think they may like to come to see the closing [exams?].
In a few days we shall have a direct route into Ames by rail (over)

P. S. I have a [person?] who is said by [?] [adept?] at Beekeeping. He is 20 years old and ambitious to acquire a [location?] He has 90 [colonies] of Bees & good tools to work with. I am anxious to get him into the Ag. College some day [?] with the Bees so he can work [?] He is competent to instruct in Beekeeping, though he could hardly lecture until he learns how. He has invented several [?] [?] [?] use.
